Germany to participate in Morocco's solar energy project
  10/11/2009

Germany has expressed its willingness to participate in the development of Morocco's solar energy project which the country has decided to carry out.

In an interview with Bloomberg news, Sabine Brickenkamp, a spokeswoman for the German economic cooperation and development ministry, said that the two governments will discuss funding and specifics of the solar accord this week in Rabat.

She added that Germany will also take part in the development of a water-desalination plant.

Last week, Morocco announced that it will launch a large-scale solar energy project, worth nine billion dollars, which seeks to achieve a 2,000-megawatt production capacity by the year 2020.

This project is part of the North African country's strategy to expand the use of renewable energy.
