WB to contribute to Morocco's solar energy project
The World Bank (WB) is considering the participation in financing Morocco's USD 9-billion solar energy project, reported MAP news agency.

This contribution can be part of a "financial support or technical assistance" offered by the WB to Morocco in order to develop renewable energy, an official of the Bank told MAP.

Germany too had expressed its willingness to participate in the project which the country has decided to carry out.

Earlier this month, Morocco had announced that it would launch a large-scale solar energy project, worth nine billion dollars, which seeks to achieve a 2,000-megawatt production capacity by the year 2020.

This project is part of the North African country's strategy to expand the use of renewable energy.
