The Moroccan National Office of Electricity (ONE) has clinched a 25-year concession contract for the electrification of the Saint Louis-Dagana-Podor region in Senegal.

The contract, signed between the Moroccan utility and the Senegalese Agency for Rural Electrification (ASER), will cost USD 14.9 million, 5 million to be paid by the World Bank.

The region, 270 km from Dakar, has a population of 362,000 and covers an area of 19,000 square meters.

ONE had already contributed to the electrification of Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, and participated in concession operations and electricity generation in Chad, Mauritania and Senegal.
