The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) has hailed Morocco's efforts in the fight against cannabis cultivation, in its 2009 report.

According to a statement by the Moroccan Embassy in Geneva, the INCB, which has taken the country out of the list of the world's largest cannabis resin producers, said that the overall cultivated area dropped 55%.

The report thus explained that cultivated area in Morocco decreased from 134,000 hectares in 2003 to 60,000 in 2009, added the embassy's statement.

The INCB also said that the North African country is continuing its efforts to control drug cultivation, and that it has fulfilled its obligations under international drug control treaties.
