Maroc Telecom's turnover rises 6% in 2010 first-half
  29/07/2010

Moroccan main telecommunication company Maroc Telecom's turnover rose by 6% year-on-year in the 2010 first-half, reaching 15.5 billion dirhams ($1.8 billion).

These results are attributed to the good performance of the local market as well foreign affiliates, Chairman of Maroc Telecom's board of directors Abdeslam Ahizoune said on Wednesday in Casablanca.

Maroc Telecom's customers reached 23.6 millions on June 30, 2010, that is an increase of 20% compared to last year. This raise is due to the sustainable growth of the customers in the local market (+11%) as well as the affiliates in Africa (+76%), with over 5.6 million clients.

The first-half net profit dropped 4.1% year-on-year to 4.455 million dirhams, while the financial expenses related to investments and purchase of the Malian telecommunication company Sotelma increased.
