The World Bank decided Tuesday to grant Morocco a loan of USD 150 million.

The loan is intended to support the National Office of Electricity's projects to enhance the effectiveness and the reliability of the electricity supply.

A communiqué of the Bank said that the loan, granted by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), will allow Morocco to strengthen the infrastructure of transmission and distribution.

It will also help reduce technical losses, support management programmes to meet the growing demand for electricity, promote wind energy and help ONE adapt to the new environment of the market.

The loan is repayable over 25 years with a grace period of 5 years.
